The official recognition of the profession of nail technician in Italy marks an important step towards the emancipation of women in the workplace. This talk will explore the evolution of the beauty sector, particularly nail care, which is increasingly characterised by female entrepreneurship. Many beauticians and nail technicians are not only workers, but also accomplished and independent entrepreneurs who run successful businesses. The role of local academies in training new female professionals will be discussed and concrete examples of female leadership that are positively influencing the Italian beauty sector and entrepreneurship will be presented.
